What is Revance® RHA®?
The Revance RHA Collection is a series of dermal fillers created with next-generation hyaluronic acid (HA) technology that closely mimics the natural hyaluronic acid found in the skin. The advanced engineering of the HA molecules in the Revance RHA Collection allows the fillers to create smooth results under the skin, flex naturally with changing facial expressions, and provide lasting reduction of moderate to deep facial wrinkles. The various Revance RHA products are created to optimize results for specific applications, and our board-certified plastic surgeon, Paul J. LoVerme, MD, can help you determine which RHA fillers are best suited for your needs.
How Does Revance® RHA® Work?
The dermal fillers in the Revance RHA Collection are FDA-approved for the treatment of moderate to severe dynamic facial wrinkles and folds in adults who are at least 22 years old. RHA products are all formulated with hyaluronic acid—a substance found naturally in the skin—which helps to maintain moisture, volume, and youthful tissue structure. When injected into the skin, RHA products restore areas with diminished volume by replenishing hyaluronic acid. RHA can effectively fill wrinkles and volumize tissue to create a smoother appearance. Best of all, RHA products are designed to be flexible in the skin, allowing them to move in harmony with facial expressions for results that are incredibly natural. The dermal filler product used, where it is applied, and how it is injected into the tissue all impact the final aesthetic outcome of treatment. For the majority of patients, RHA injectables can last for up to 15 months before another treatment is necessary to maintain results.
The Revance® RHA® Collection
Each dermal filler in the RHA Collection is designed for a specific purpose, and the right product for you will depend on the location, depth, and severity of your aesthetic concerns. Both RHA® 2 and RHA® 3 are used for wrinkle correction at the mid-to-deep dermis level, while RHA® 4 is appropriate for injection into the deep dermis and superficial subcutaneous tissue. At The LoVerme Center for Plastic Surgery we offer all three RHA products. Dr. LoVerme is experienced and highly-trained in identifying which RHA product can give you the best results. Dr. LoVerme can choose from a variety of injection techniques to most effectively address your unique concerns. In some cases, a combination of RHA products may be used to achieve optimal rejuvenation.
What Happens During Treatment with Revance® RHA®?
Before treatment with RHA begins, a topical anesthetic is applied to the skin to help prevent discomfort. Over the course of ten to fifteen minutes, the skin should become adequately desensitized. Then, Dr. LoVerme injects the RHA into the tissue at the appropriate depth until the wrinkle or fold is smoothed. This process is repeated in all of the areas identified for treatment. When the injections are complete, a cold compress may be applied to the treated areas to provide additional comfort and prevent swelling. The entire treatment process typically takes 30 to 40 minutes.
What Results Can I Expect from Revance® RHA® Treatments?
You may experience some swelling and bruising after treatment; however, these effects are temporary and should resolve within a week. Results are apparent immediately after treatment, and can continue to improve over seven days as the hyaluronic acid attracts moisture within the tissue. Patients who receive RHA injections are typically thrilled with the results and remark that facial wrinkles and folds are dramatically reduced. Overall, their skin appears significantly smoother and more youthful. Clinical studies have shown that results achieved with RHA can last up to 15 months, though outcomes may vary among individuals. As results fade, you can discuss the appropriate time for retreatment with Dr. LoVerme to maintain your youthful appearance.
How Much Does Revance® RHA® Cost?
The price for treatment with RHA dermal fillers depends on the number of vials used to achieve the desired result. During your consultation with Dr. LoVerme, he can estimate how much filler may be appropriate for creating the look you want. For qualified applicants, plastic surgery financing may be available through CareCredit® or Prosper® Healthcare Lending to help make treatment more affordable and convenient.
